Finally getting around to posting about UNFURGIVABLE after _almost_ a month. (This post is photo-heavy.)
UNFURGIVABLE is a campaign of STRIP: Ministry of Waxing Manila for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (P.E.T.A.). The campaign discourages the use of humanized fur. UNFURGIVABLE’s message — Fur is ugly; fur is absolutely unforgivable!
This campaign commenced last January 12, 2012 at Prive Luxury Club that showcased photos by Miguel Miranda and a fashion show by Wanderlust.
I wanted to see solely the photo exhibit and my curiosity increased after seeing the video.
My brother accompanied me to the event. We arrived a few minutes after the doors opened and had a bit of trouble getting in. But the wait was worth it. 😉
Miguel Miranda’s photos were displayed in such a way you’ll see them as soon as you enter the club.
Models for this shoot are — Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Isabel Roces, Phoemela Barranda, Nina Estaco, Kylie Padilla, Ornusa Cadness, Roshni Hemlani, CJ Jaravata, Xtina, Kit Barraquias, Laureen Uy, Xeng Zulueta, and cheeky Radio Djs Sam YG, Slick Rick and Toni Tony of Boys Night Out. Unfortunately, we couldn’t fit the whole exhibit in one picture. My brother had the better camera, but he forgot to bring the proper lens and his flash.
The show didn’t kick off until a couple of hours later. JM Rodriguez, the host of the night, welcomed and briefed the guests on Strip’s campaign for P.E.T.A. There was a short contest. Lucky winners received awesome prizes from Strip.
The fashion show commenced after. Wanderlust, by the dazzling Maggie Wilson-Consunji, filled the runway with very fashionable swimsuit pieces.
There are a couple of swimsuits that I like. But! I must work out first. 😛
Seeing the photos puts me to shame. I went there looking like my usual mess. ^^;; StyleBible.ph was even there. I’m no fashionista, but I could have prepped better. I just chose to stay longer in the office and meet up with the boyfriend before I went to the event (with my work stuff!). (Excuses? Haha~)
The event ended right after the fashion show, but the party went on of course. My brother and I could have stayed longer for more drinks, but we had to call it a night being that we both have work early the following day.
Strip’s collaboration with Wanderlust doesn’t end there as Wanderlust’s swimsuits _have been_ available since January 14, 2012 in your local Strip branches. Every purchase from Wanderlust entitles you to a 15% discount off a Brazilian wax. Also, based from Circuit Magazine‘s article on the event, PhP50 for every Brazilian wax treatment will be donated by Strip to P.E.T.A. This will be until March 31, 2012. A special discount will even be given to first-time Strip customers. Strip: Ministry of Waxing branches are at Serendra and Greenbelt 5.
That was a great and mesmerizing campaign. It was an honor to be invited. Thank you to Gerick Ortiz, the stylist for Miguel Miranda’s shoot, for extending an invite. Too bad I didn’t get to meet him personally.
See my Flickr album for all the pictures from this event most of which were taken by my brother.
