Hasn’t it been very cold lately? Colder than last year’s and this chilly weather even started earlier than I expected. I like it actually because I get to wear my jackets, sweaters, or blazers to work without arriving in the office looking as though I took a bath in my own sweat. But the AC in our office adjusts to the weather outside (because it’s fucked like that), so if
baby it’s cold outside, then it’s way colder in the office. With the cold weather outside and chiller office, my skin from head to toe has suffered from extreme dryness. Thankfully I don’t have scaly skin, but it’s still annoying. I had to change some of my skin care products to keep up with my extremely dry skin.
Burt’s Bees Hand Salve
Also from this set, here’s another very effective Burt’s Bees product. I apply after shower and every time I wash the dishes; mostly on my fingers and around the nails because my cuticles tend to peel and I habitually pull them off. (Ouch, I know!) On my first use, it was instant moisturize.
It only takes light finger swipes from the tin to apply to all fingers. The hand salve is not oily or sticky; dries on skin instantly. My fingernails have looked better because of it too. Very much worth the money. I can’t say yet if I would repurchase since there are still more hand creams/balms from the kit I have to try. I want to know first which is the most effective.
Burt’s Bees is available in Beauty Bar stores.
Estee Lauder SPF15 Lip Conditioner
I was surprised with discovering they have this. I thought all they have are lip sticks, lip glosses, and all those lip color products except this.
Although the Laura Mercier Lip Glaces are somewhat conditioning, my lips would still dry and peel from time to time. This saves my lips from that. I apply the lip conditioner before lip gloss, when the lip gloss seem to fade, and after a meal.
Victoria’s Secret Ultra-Moisturizing Hand and Body Cream
Would you believe this is more moisturizing than my bottle of Jergens? I’m serious. When my legs started to dry as well (annoying if you just epilated), I thought I would use my Jergens lotion. I think it’s the Original Scent. Sorry, I don’t have the bottle with me right now. But it’s only that variety that’s not effective for me. Anyway, I went back to using the VS Ultra-Moisturizing Cream and it works so well. My skin is moisturized for almost the whole day. It has a very very feminine (so not me) scent, but I like it. Sillage is average to strong for about 30 minutes. The scent would stay on for an hour or two at most.
I also experienced having a dry skin patch on the right side of my forehead. At the edge of the scalp, hidden under my bangs. Sort of feels and looks like pox except with flaky skin. It was very itchy. I was sure it was no extreme skin disease that I would need expensive antibiotics for. From a doc’s advise, I applied Diprolene Ointment daily for less than a week. The dry skin patch was then gone. 🙂 I had to share that in case someone is suffering the same.
So those are some of my current choice products for dry skin. For my face, well, that will be in another post. Please share yours too. There might be a product you could recommend. 😉
