First IPL experience

A couple of weeks ago, I had my first Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment courtesy of Strip: Ministry of Waxing. I had my appointment at their Greenbelt 5 branch at 6PM. It was my first time to go up to the 4th floor of the mall in spite going there almost everyday. I thought I would be late just for searching for Strip. =_=

IPL Session
I wanted to take home the little monkey. 🙁

It was my first time at Strip, so I had to fill up some forms before I was brought to the IPL treatment room. The first process of the IPL is to shave the hair off the area to be treated. I was not too happy with that because I dislike shaving after an awful experience of ingrown hair and itchiness during hair growth. After that was the actual treatment, which took minutes to begin since there was a small problem with the IPL machine. At first I was okay with waiting because it felt comfortable to just lie down after a long day in the office. Then it occurred to me — What if the IPL machine really broke down? Then I’ll be left with shaven legs that I hate? — After 10 to 15 minutes, the machine turned on and it was time to start the treatment. Whew! Another therapist was called in so my IPL treatment would go faster. I was told it would take longer than an hour.

Goggles are worn during the treatment. I wonder if wearing sunglasses would be fine? At least that would keep eye makeup (or the mascara) from getting messy especially when the goggles are kind of small. 😛

A very very cool gel was put on the area to be treated before the hand piece is run through. I was informed that any stinging sensation is due to the thick hairs. I felt a little of that, but very tolerable. The whole process seemed scary to me at first being that I was having a huge part of my body done, but I eventually felt at ease. I even fell asleep when they did the back of my legs. Everything went for an hour and 30 minutes. I was then instructed to often keep my legs moisturized.

To get the expected results of IPL, about four sessions are needed. In spite that it was my first session, I believe I may already do some comparison between IPL and waxing. I have been waxing for years now — from self-waxing to having a professional service. It has been two weeks since my treatment and hair growth with IPL is not as fast as with wax. There were some, but they shed off easily. I also didn’t get any redness nor felt itchiness right after the treatment. IPL is best for my legs I was told by my therapist. It is actually great for ladies who have moderately-hairy to very-hairy body parts. If it permits me, I’ll definitely do the rest of the needed sessions.

Thanks to Hot Young Designers for giving me the chance to try Strip’s IPL treatment. Thanks also to Strip for their extreme kindness and accommodation. 😀

I apologize for the lack of pictures. I didn’t have the time to & I also forgot. ^^;;; Btw, until the end of the month, Strip will give PhP50 to PETA for every Brazilian and/or Boyzilian treatment as part for their UNFURGIVABLE campaign. Unfortunately, I got nothing to _Brazilian_ yet so I can’t make a contribution. Still, I’ll definitely have their Brazilian service as soon as needed.

Hi, nice review. Are you done with your 4th IPL session? How is the result? How much is their IPL for underarm? thanks!

Hello, ai! Thanks for visiting Glam Love. Unfortunately, it was out of my budget to continue the full-leg IPL sessions. But it took about three months before there was regular hair growth. During those three months, there were just minimal and thin hair growth. I really recommend it. 🙂

Underarm IPL in Strip is PhP5,000/session. But they usually have package offers or promos. Best to call them up. Contact numbers are in my blog post.
