If you read my recent hauls post, then you know the story behind this purchase. If not, well then — I was very curious about Black Honey because of its many good reviews. The curiosity led to wanting that it didn’t matter if I have a budget at the time. I had Joiz accompany me. Unfortunately, Black Honey was out of stock then. But I didn’t want to leave without something! And since I was curious about the Almost Lipstick line, I chose something else so I got Spicy Honey (and a few more as that was the time Joiz and I got a lot from Clinique XD;).

Clinique’s description of Almost Lipstick in their website::

Transparent pigment merges with the unique, natural tone of your lips to create something wonderful and yours alone. Sheer, glossy. Emollient-rich and very lightweight.

Spicy Honey, in the tube, is deep red. It is very sheer when applied on my slightly pigmented lips. I only get color out of it on second swipe. It looks somewhat like a stain of red wine (see below picture without flash) on my lips.

Without flash

With flash

Almost Lipstick is moisturizing, indeed lightweight, and has a glossy finish. My lips went dry the first time I had this on like with my other lip products. But from the second use onwards, my lips have gotten and are often moisturized and soft. The color payoff is what makes it “almost lipstick” which makes me like it more than most of my lipglosses. It is also not sticky and is easy to apply. This lasts on my lips for three to four hours without eating and/or drinking.

This is now a staple in my beauty kit. It is now also my choice of lipwear for work for reasons stated above and most of my lipsticks are quite pricey for me to use too often. I really like this and I’m excited to buy the Black Honey as soon as it is available.

I highly recommended this to everyone. There are other shades to choose from ranging from nude to pink to red. Other than the above and Black Honey, there are Tender Honey, Chic Honey, Luscious Honey, Lovely Honey, Shy Honey, and Flirty Honey. The only thing that may put off some is its price of PhP1,100. But you’ll definitely get what you pay for. Almost Lipstick is available in Clinique counters in all Rustan’s.

Blogging before I do work (damn, just thinking about it makes me wanna give up on life. lelz~). I’ve this urge to blog since last weekend, but I seem to have a writer’s block or I’m at a loss on how to go about this. Ah well, I won’t let that keep me from writing especially when I have the urge.

Clinique loot

Last Saturday, I was only going to check if Clinique has the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. But, like Joiz, I ended up buying more than intended. I purchased those three boxed items — Repairwear, Pore Minimizer, and Almost Lipstick in Spicy Honey. I got the Spicy Honey because Clinique was out of stock of cult fave Black Honey. I sometimes have no control. I almost even got a Blushing Blush in Giddy Pink. ^^;;; So because of those three, I received a pouch of skincare products, lip gloss, and a travel case. All those skincare are very essential imo, so it isn’t that bad of a purchase. Just for my wallet.

Thanks so much to Ms. Anya, the Clinique Expert and Manager at Rustan’s Makati, who accommodated us and taught us about Clinique’s products.

Another item I bought that I think would be essential since I’m concerned with eye wrinkles is this:

E.L.F. Concealer Brush

Sometimes it is hard not to purposely tug the thin skin around the eyes. All the more when you’re in a rush. ^^;;;

Going back on Clinique, Joiz mentioned about Clinique’s free services. I would be more than glad to share with you about them. The free services are only until the end of the month. There are only seven services anyway so you can still complete them by then (and you’ll even receive a free gift when you do). The free services are the following:

5-Minutes to Pretty — The Clinique Expert will give and show you how to prettify yourself in 5 minutes with the right products and shade. Get express tips so you can recreate the look at home or on-the-go.

Shape Shop for Eyes — Get (more) knowledgeable in applying eye makeup.

Makeup Bag Confessions — The Clinique Expert will custom-create your best look and give you the perfect treat for your makeup style. You only need to bring your bag.

Day-to-Night Look — Turn your day and fresh look to a party-all-night! look in less than 2 minutes.

Brow-Grooming — Simply a must to have your brows groomed.

Concealing Techniques — Conceal all those scars, dark spots, and pimples

Foundation-Fitting — Know your right shade, so you won’t look washed-out or like a geisha (as per our Clinique Expert).

I already had the Makeup Bag Confessions. Tomorrow I’ll be having the Day-to-Night Look as suggested by Ms. Anya. Joiz is already booked too. For the curious, let us know if you want to join or be with us.

I accompanied Shabby at Rustan’s Makati today to check if Clinique had the Black Honey lip balm(?), at the same time, I was looking around for a liquid foundation that will suit my current skin color. So we were looking around other brands but when we got to the Clinique bar (is that what they’re called? Or just kiosk? stall? … uh, area? lol), I started checking out the lipsticks and balms as well. Then, I finally gave in to getting a foundation-fitting to find the right shade and kind of foundation meant for my skin type.

I also liked the moisturizing gel and the powder Anya (she’s the Expert and Manager at Clinique Rustan’s Makati) used on my face that I also felt an inkling to purchase them. It’s too bad that the moisturizing gel is out of stock, but I did get the powder. It was so nice! I’ll post a review for each of the products after I’ve used them a few more times.

Superbalanced powder makeup, long last lipstick, even better liquid foundation, clarifying lotion, moisturizing gel, liquid facial soap, long last glosswear, all about eyes, moisture surge

With those 3 product purchases, I got a bonus set of skin care products as you can see above, along with the two bags at the back. You can also get them if you purchase a total of PhP 4,500. BUT this bonus promo is only until April 15, so if you are interested and got to read this just after I posted, run to the nearest Clinique branch! Run!

Ladies, if you are also not yet aware, Clinique also offers free services, you just have to book!

There’s 7 of the skin consultations: 5-Minutes to Pretty, Shape Shop for Eyes, Makeup Bag Confessions, Day-To-Night Look, Brow-Grooming, Concealing Techniques, and Foundation-Fitting. (may be Shabby will elaborate on these consultations, if not, I’ll update this blog entry, or post a new one in a couple of days.

All you have to do to avail of the free services is:

Visit or call Clinique to book an appointment

Come on your scheduled appointment

Learn and have fun with the Clinique Expert

Present the “Free Services Promo Card” for signature (or for first-time visitors, it will be given to you after your first appointment)

If you complete all 7 services, you get to receive a 6-piece gift pack from Clinique

There’s also have a group offer for a beauty workshop if you and your friends want an exclusive beauty session at the counter to learn makeup techniques and other tricks of the trade. Interesting, huh? For more information, you can visit & like the official Clinique Philippines page on Facebook.

Today was quite an expensive day for me, but I had fun. I have so much awesome beauty products, I cannot wait to use them all!

Have you tried the Dove Hair Therapy shampoos? I tried the Intense Repair and currently use Hair Fall Rescue. Afaik, Dove Hair Therapy arrived Philippine shores not too long ago. Best I review these before they become very old news.

My hair is very unmanageable, breaks easily, my hair fall is terrible, and I have split-ends. Primary cause is frequent blow drying. I know it’s not good for my hair, but I need to blow dry else it is a complete mess and I hate to be seen with a lion’s mane. DX Dove Hair Therapy got my attention because of its claim on moisturizing and restoring damaged hair.

I was able to try the Intense Repair Shampoo thanks to the many samples I acquired. I’m usually afraid to buy a big bottle since it could be ineffective, so I’m glad there were samples going around. Those lasted me for about two weeks which I think is enough to test and review the shampoo.

I noticed the softness on the first time I used the shampoo. It stayed that way even after everyday use. Unlike with the previous shampoos I used, my hair got dry or oily. Even the ♥ said my hair is soft after I told him how dry my hair is and I need a haircut. Drier than Super Dry I even said. lols

My hair has become manageable. I don’t use the blow dryer for too long and my hair iron is now hardly used. Thank goodness because that lessens my everyday routine before going out.

After consuming all the Intense Repair sachets, I went and bought the Hair Fall Rescue shampoo. I didn’t even know Dove has that. I need that because my hair fall is really bad that it’s scary. ~_~ I’m surprised (and happy) that people still find my hair thick. I thought it’s thinning out.

Buying a bottle was a risk — It may lessen the hair fall, have no effect, or make it worse. I have been using Hair Fall Rescue for almost three weeks now and, I must say, it works for me. The first I noticed was it made my hair feel lighter. Then hair fall has drastically lessened to almost none most of the time. There’s even less breakage. The only thing I dislike about it is its strong scent. I eventually got used to it especially that I realized it is similar to the European-made Dove soap. That soap smelled so much like of a baby. ♥

Both shampoos have slightly thick consistency. A drop with the size of a Piso coin is enough for medium-length hair.

I very much like Hair Fall Rescue better than Intense Repair. I’m glad that out of several shampoos I’ve tried that claim to lessen hair fall, this one works for me. To further prove it — I had my hair cut just the other night. I ended up having hair spa too. While the beautician applied the cream on my head and massaged my scalp, he looked at his hands and said that it’s good that I don’t experience hair fall. My eyes went O_o I told him that I have a bad case of hair fall. Then It old him I started using Dove’s Hair Fall Rescue. Hiyang daw ang buhok ko sa shampoo na yun.

Dove Hair Therapy is available at supermarkets and beauty section of department stores. I bought Hair Fall Rescue in 350mL from The Landmark Grocery at PhP188.75. Other Dove Damage Therapy shampoos are Straight and Silky and Nourishing Oil Care.

The arrival of the Dove shampoos is just right timing. I have been meaning to find another shampoo because I had bad hair fall again and my hair has started to feel very dry (again too). I thought I wouldn’t have to look for another shampoo after last November 2011 when I found some known shampoo brand worked for me. This time I hope not to look for any other shampoo anymore… At least for a couple of years. ^^;;;

If you have used any of the Dove Hair Therapy products, what’s your take on it?

Browhaus has invited the Glam Love ladies last Tuesday, March 22, to introduce their most advanced and sophisticated technology. The event was held at their Serendra branch. I arrived around 15 minutes after the call time because I didn’t know where Browhaus was exactly. ^^;;; Only Joiz and I were able to go, by the way.

I like that Gaga brow XD

I was offered grooming of my brows while waiting for the event to start and for the other bloggers to arrive. It was right timing because I have been wanting to get my brows groomed. Tweezing is becoming a chore for me and I find my brows a bit uneven. That was my first time to have my brows done by them. The therapist who attended to me said that my brows already have shape so they just need to be _cleaned_. I told her that I think they are uneven as if the left is longer than the other. She explained to me how so and she would thread, tweeze, and then trim my brows. I left it to her what needs to be done. The result made me happier and more self-confident because I felt shy going to a Browhaus event with unruly brows. I’m very happy with the result that I wish it would stay that way. My brows look _sexy_ and it’s now more enjoyable to put eye makeup. Sadly, I don’t have before and after shots nor do I have a solo picture at the event because I’m shy like that. LOL But I’ve been included in the photos of and with other bloggers, so I’ll just wait for those. I might be able to make out some before and after photos from them.

Minutes later, with Browhaus almost full, Monique called for our attention. She introduced the Browhaus team and then mentioned the sole reason why we were invited — to showcase Browhaus’s Brow Resurrection 2.4.

Brow Ressurection 2.4 (BR 2.4) is Browhaus’s latest offering for those in need of a semi-permanent solution for eyebrows. It is better than tattoo or embroidery since BR 2.4 gives a more detailed, natural stroke. BR 2.4 is exclusive to Browhaus and is their most advanced and sophisticated technique.

BROWHAUS’s latest Advanced Brow Resurrection creates stunning artisan brows so natural that no one can tell that they had some extra shaping up on the side. Before and after of BR 2.4

BR 2.4 treatment is not painful. Tab mentioned that it is the same as having a Brazilian at Strip. The sensation is a slight tickle; it feels like eyebrow tweezing. The process takes 15 steps including consultation. It may be done in 90 minutes or longer. What might be the longest step is deciding for the brow shape. Brows done with the BR 2.4 can last as long as two years with proper care and use of after-care products especially those with dark brows. For those with light, natural-looking brows, it can last up to six to eight months. Please view below for more information on BR 2.4 including that of having a tattooed brow reworked:

Joiz and I couldn’t wait for final results of Ginger’s BR, but we’ll be receiving photos from the Browhaus team which will be posted by Joiz asap.

BR 2.4 is for those brows that are too thin, uneven, or just near to non-existence. This will save you time if you happen to often draw and define your brows.
Browhaus is the place to be for your brow and lash grooming. Getting a brow service from them is well worth it. They do not just clean your brows, but also shape them proportioned to your face. Read on to know more. I also made a list of their services with their prices for your reference.

About Browhaus
Inspired by Bauhaus, the German architecture movement, Browhaus believes that there is a functionality behind every style. It is this idea that created Browhaus, your one-stop urban grooming pitstop for the look-conscious individual. Offering brow and lash grooming services, Browhaus designs your perfect brow and accentuates your lashes for your best face forward.

The Idea Behind the Tweeze
Defining your brows does not mean you have to take a chisel and hack away at unruly strands. It doesn’t matter if your brows are likened to a bush or the malnourished desert, there’s always a way to make them the best kind of arch you’ll ever have.

Browhaus is no ordinary brow grooming base, there is an idea behind every tweeze; the plain simple desire for eloquently designed brows. This idea was borne from the artistic thought processes of Bauhaus, a legend of its own right in the design arena. If you didn’t already know, Bauhaus is the prestigious German architecture and design institute that churns out the designs that design gurus yearn to come up with. The design philosophy of Bauhaus is to keep the functionality of a design but also adding a touch of style to it. The basis of symmetry of Bauhaus and its effortless fashion sense inspired the development of Browhaus – The Brow Architects.

Browhaus Blueprint System – Brow Arch-itecture
The Browhaus Blueprint System is a precise system designed to create the perfect brow. The Blueprint System is an artful integration of Classic brow knowledge and Modern science. Employing grid technology (Grids are Good), we structure a brow creation of perfect form and symmetry. The system remains true to the absolute laws of order and balance, while retaining the aesthetic sensibilities of elegance and grace. It is function and style defined. The result is what we would like think as the architect’s brow – an arch of both curved magnificence and technical brilliance.

Every face is a unique terrain with differing bone and muscle definition. With the Blueprint System, any face shape – whether round, oval, heart-shaped or square – is taken into consideration. Your eye shape, how it is set and unique concerns such as a prominent nose, chin or lip are all factored into the equation. The natural effects of aging, slackening skin and the loss of facial muscle tone are rebalanced. Rules of height and diameter, peaks and angles are used to attain a masterpiece brow of technical balance and beautiful proportion.

While we delve deep into the science, the result can only be described as art. The Blueprint System will shape meaning, carve order and sculpt sense from the mess and tangle. It stays true to the universal laws of order, symmetry and function while delivering the end result of style.

Don’t leave your brows to Mother Nature, put it in the skilled hands of The Brow Architects.

A couple of weeks ago, I had my first Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment courtesy of Strip: Ministry of Waxing. I had my appointment at their Greenbelt 5 branch at 6PM. It was my first time to go up to the 4th floor of the mall in spite going there almost everyday. I thought I would be late just for searching for Strip. =_=

I wanted to take home the little monkey.

It was my first time at Strip, so I had to fill up some forms before I was brought to the IPL treatment room. The first process of the IPL is to shave the hair off the area to be treated. I was not too happy with that because I dislike shaving after an awful experience of ingrown hair and itchiness during hair growth. After that was the actual treatment, which took minutes to begin since there was a small problem with the IPL machine. At first I was okay with waiting because it felt comfortable to just lie down after a long day in the office. Then it occurred to me — What if the IPL machine really broke down? Then I’ll be left with shaven legs that I hate? — After 10 to 15 minutes, the machine turned on and it was time to start the treatment. Whew! Another therapist was called in so my IPL treatment would go faster. I was told it would take longer than an hour.

Goggles are worn during the treatment. I wonder if wearing sunglasses would be fine? At least that would keep eye makeup (or the mascara) from getting messy especially when the goggles are kind of small.

A very very cool gel was put on the area to be treated before the hand piece is run through. I was informed that any stinging sensation is due to the thick hairs. I felt a little of that, but very tolerable. The whole process seemed scary to me at first being that I was having a huge part of my body done, but I eventually felt at ease. I even fell asleep when they did the back of my legs. Everything went for an hour and 30 minutes. I was then instructed to often keep my legs moisturized.

To get the expected results of IPL, about four sessions are needed. In spite that it was my first session, I believe I may already do some comparison between IPL and waxing. I have been waxing for years now — from self-waxing to having a professional service. It has been two weeks since my treatment and hair growth with IPL is not as fast as with wax. There were some, but they shed off easily. I also didn’t get any redness nor felt itchiness right after the treatment. IPL is best for my legs I was told by my therapist. It is actually great for ladies who have moderately-hairy to very-hairy body parts. If it permits me, I’ll definitely do the rest of the needed sessions.

Thanks to Hot Young Designers for giving me the chance to try Strip’s IPL treatment. Thanks also to Strip for their extreme kindness and accommodation.

I apologize for the lack of pictures. I didn’t have the time to & I also forgot. ^^;;; Btw, until the end of the month, Strip will give PhP50 to PETA for every Brazilian and/or Boyzilian treatment as part for their UNFURGIVABLE campaign. Unfortunately, I got nothing to _Brazilian_ yet so I can’t make a contribution. Still, I’ll definitely have their Brazilian service as soon as needed.

I don’t haul like mad. I only get what suits me or what I really need. Because, honestly, it’s hard to have other _expensive_ interests such as gaming and toys. Budget is a must for me! For all of us actually. But I admit I sometimes buy cosmetics on impulse. Lately I have been into buying lipsticks and blushes. The thought of summer made me want some corals although I keep getting drawn away by pretty pinks, reds, and plums that I find. ^^;

Below are what I’ve acquired so far since January this year.

Click on for bigger picture, but without labels

Those in the upper left — Max Factor Ageless Elixir sample, M•A•C Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Can’t Resist, M•A•C Mineralized Blush in Love Thing, and CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Feline and Captivate — are online bargain finds while the Garnier Light and OilClear and Maybelline Baby Lips are from NetBooster Asia’s KUNG HEI PARTEY. The Laura Mercier lipstick in Roman Moon is an impulse buy. I really wanted to get Tangerine, but it didn’t look good on me. Instead of just leaving the store and being able to save moolah, I bought Roman Moon. It was suggested to me by the attendant when I found the color so pretty (even on me ).

The following are what my parents brought home from their recent trip. The Estee Lauder and Lancome products are from my Aunt/Ninang.

Not in pictures are Maybelline Clear Smooth Blush in Fresh Apricot and, my latest purchase, a M•A•C Lustre lipstick in Syrup. I’m sure I took a picture with the Fresh Apricot blush. I must have deleted it while I sorted through numerous takes.

My hauls are unlike those who purchase that much in only a week or month. ^^; I don’t want to spend for cosmetics for now or any time soon, but there are some I’m eying at the moment. That includes a Chanel blush and some brushes. I already have been mentally calculating my budget and expenses. XD;

The Glam Love ladies had dinner a couple of weeks back as mentioned here. Let me share an Instax photo of us from that dinner:

I look old. LOL

Last week, I visited Strip in Serendra, Global City and tried out one of their services courtesy of Hot Young Designers. This trial opportunity was offered to HYD’s blogger partners last August so I no longer expected an update since half a year has already passed. But Ginger from HYD sent out an update that I was one of the few who were approved to try out the offer. And so I did.
I got booked through Ginger and like I said, I visited Serendra’s Ministry of Waxing. Now I have been getting bikini and underarm waxing for a few years now and if I were to give a review of Strip’s services, I’d prefer to try out something different, so I tried out IPL (Intense Pulse Light) Hair Removal.

What is IPL?

Intense pulsed-light hair removal is an advanced and semi-permanent hair reduction method, where beams of specially filtered light are used to disintegrate hair from the root and follicle. New hair growth is delayed and there may not be any re-growth for a percentage of hair.

So I went there for my appointment, and had a little trouble at the front desk because I wasn’t booked. So I was ushered to the waiting area while I made some phone calls to confirm what happened.

industrial chic waiting area

After things were settled, I also had to do some paper work, registration and such. I was then escorted by the therapist who will attend to me. Her name was May Rose and she was this little lady who had all the answers to my questions regarding IPL.

How is this done?

They shave the body area to be treated (no, you should not have waxed before IPL treatment). Put cold gel on the area, and run the handpiece of the machine for a few minutes. It’s warm, it can get a bit hot, there will be snapping sensations every now and then, but that’s it.

How long does a treatment take for underarms and for other body areas?

10-15 minutes for underarm, and upper lip. 45 minutes to an hour for bigger body areas.

How often should the treatment be?

You might think it’s a one-time, big time thing… It isn’t. IPL treatments are usually done every 4 to 6 weeks or until you’re satisfied with how fine your hair is after re-growth, if it even re-grows at all.

Is it safe?

Yes, it is safe. Some may experience mild reddening of the treatment area for a day or so, but other complications are very rare. The machine Strip uses delivers energy to the skin very gently.

IPL machine – that is the most you get to see of the room I was in

Aftercare?

For the next 24 hours, just like after waxing:

No hot baths

No swimming or sunbathing

No heat or UV treatments like sunbeds or saunas

No tight clothing

No perfumed products on the body area treated including deodorant, anti-perspirant, self-tanner or makeup

No touching, scrubbing or rubbing the area (unless you want a bacterial invasion, then be my guest)

No intense exercise

No extensive sun exposure for at least 4 weeks after treatment. Sun block is strongly recommended.

Then there’s also the Strip Ice Cream that is recommended to be used twice a day for at least 7 days after treatment for soothing, lasting moisture. I went ahead and purchase a 50ml tube for Php 1,750.

Mmm.. Ice cream. Oh, not edible! DX

The price is very steep, I know, but it’s nice. It does feel refreshing. I like it, and I can use it for the next treatment sessions I’m going to have.

The two accommodating ladies from the front desk, and the monkey toy I wanted to take home with me! :3

LOL yes, I liked talking with May and the front desk girls that I considered going back. I was actually very happy with their services, I’ve decided to stay on, get IPL treatment from their expert hands and purchase a package from them to continue what I’ve already tested (of course, there aren’t any proper results I can give my opinion to, just yet).

Since it’s still February, they have a 40% discount going for IPL packages of 6. Until February 29, 2012, instead of paying 30,000 pesos for 6 sessions of IPL, you can have the package for only 18,000 pesos, and you get a Malin+Goetz body care travel kit (worth Php 1650) which I will talk about in detail some other time.

They also got a discount going for the Brazilian waxing but I forgot to ask further details about that. Citibank Platinum & Gold card holders also get further discount for their services. Moving forward, I’ll try to get more updates regarding sales and discounts from Strip.

Seriously, try out Strip Serendra for your hair removal needs. They know how to take care of their customers.
