Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder

I mentioned in our November-December beauty favorites that the Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder is the best affordable setting powder.

Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder

The plastic compact feels slightly sturdy and light. Easy to slip in a purse or vanity kit for touch-ups, but a separate puff or dense powder brush is still needed. The latter works better btw.

On the back of the powder:

Extremely smooth fixing compact powder for a matte and natural finish all day long. Helps to blend blush and foundation colors together. Fixes make-up when applied as finishing powder. For all skin tones.

I use this to set my foundation and concealer. Sometimes my cream or liquid cheek color too. The powder is translucent, so it barely or doesn’t change the color of my blush even if it looks white in the swatch below. It keeps my face oil-free for five to six hours, it’s not powdery, and doesn’t give me a cake-face. 😆 Seriously though, you only need to apply on the oily areas (if you have oily skin like mine) and your face will stay matte for hours.

I find it easy to go through this powder since there’s only about 0.24oz of product though that’s typical for pressed powders. (The 0.28oz most likely includes the packaging.) I have been using this for more or less three months and I already hit pan considering I only use this once a day to set my makeup. It’s not that powdery too, so I’m sure I’m not wasting too much product. This might be the first time I am quickly going through a pressed powder. Maybe for some that’s normal. I just can’t help but compare it to my Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, which takes me forever to finish. The difference is obvious, I know (because loose vs pressed, right?).

To get an ounce of Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder means four of it, so that’s around PhP1,200. One compact is PhP299. Still cheaper than 1oz tub of Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. The loose powder is better and might take longer to use up imo, but this is a li’l/small/tiny issue. 🙂 This Essence powder is still amazing and wonderful that it would be my first recommendation to those in a budget.

Essence is available in all SM Department Stores and select Watsons branches.
