I have been interested with Essence makeup and took the opportunity to buy some on their sale. I got some base makeup that I showed here. The first I will review is the Essence All About Oil-Free Make-up.
(I forgot to remove that sticker on cap.)
Mattifying, oil-free foundation for a flawless and radiant finish. covers imprefections without clogging the pores. the formulation is long-lasting and moisturzing. dermatologically tested.
All these years wearing makeup, I never used a primer until recently. I want to make my makeup last longer and prevent oiliness for at least 6 hours. The weather and office conditions make my face produce more oil than it usually does. 😕 I consulted Google and found two options including this primer I’m about to review.
I would consider my other option in spite its high price tag, but I remembered I had a tester of the original Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. So I took that out, tried it, and was very impressed how it made my makeup look.
July has passed and I wasn’t able to review the rest of the makeup I was using then. But, actually, only the foundation and concealer are left, both of which I still use. They could still be part of my August makeup routine because I ♥ them both! In order of how I put them on, I’ll begin the reviews with foundation then concealer.
Maybelline Fit Me! Matte+Poreless Foundation 130 Buff Beige
This drugstore foundation has very good reviews and has been highly recommended for those with oily combination skin.
A bottle contains 30ml or 1.0 fl.oz. of product
I don’t think I have any cons, but only pros on this drugstore foundation.
Truly matte with medium to heavy coverage
Eight-hour longevity and sometimes longer before any shininess peers through
Managed to purchase a Silk Crème Oil-Free Photo Edition Foundation from Laura Mercier this summer, and it is so divine, it’s fast becoming my favorite foundation.
To start off, it is unfortunate this has the same name as an older foundation as it is completely different so there will be comparisons. This foundation leave a matte finish and can maintain a long lasting, smooth, oil-free finish. It promises 12-hour of wear, and it stays on pretty well, but oily areas will definitely begin seeing shine in a couple hours or less, even if powder is applied afterward. That’s not a deal-breaker, just don’t expect this to control oil for half the day.
I’m back home and in the blog! 😀 Juggling several blogs and the vacation was impossible, so I posted only one entry last month. ^^;;; Anyway, on to the post.
Ever since I bought the L’Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Sun Beige, I’ve been using it almost daily. I was able to test it through two summers and some rainy days. It never failed on either hot or rainy days. The wear lasts almost eight hours which is great for a work day. But I think the powder that I purchased with it also helps. I barely need to retouch. That’s one thing less from my cosmetic kit. 😉
I don’t normally use mineral makeup. I’ve tried Bare Escentuals after buying their starter kit and the mineral made my face feel leathery and dry. I’m not sure if it was an allergic reaction or the kabuki brush that comes with the kit is just too tough on my skin but I continued using the set for months until I found a better replacement.
Bio Remedies Therapeutic Cosmetic (BRTC) is one of the more reputable cosmetic companies in Korea and based on online reviews, they have a lot of fans. Their BB cream line is very popular. I was able to try their “best” BB cream, the BRTC Recover Balm, and I was very impressed. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take photos to make a review post. To make up for that, here is my review of BRTC Glossy BB Cream based on a sample I bought ages ago but only got to try recently. Unfortunately, I think this particular BB cream has been discontinued. I don’t see it in http://www.skinami.co.kr/ nor http://www.brtcstore.com/.
I tried Hanskin Caviar Gold BB Cream for a couple of weeks and finally surrendered that it’s not suited for my skin. It makes my face very pale and dries my skin because of its thick consistency. This product is more suited for those with oily skin and very fair complexion, probably caucasian skin.
The Hanskin Caviar Gold BB Cream has SPF 21, aloe, caviar and vitamin B. It has whitening and wrinkle-prevention ingredients as well.
